A house that remembers

The house stands on Ostrožná — one of Opava’s oldest streets, already carrying the road from the Hradec Gate to the Upper Square in the early 14th century. For centuries it was a street of busy shops, craftsmen’s workshops and taverns; a few houses away stood a Franciscan monastery where Opava’s first hospital opened in 1807, and the poet Petr Bezruč was born in one of the neighbouring houses. Beneath the hotel’s floors, a Gothic cellar from the 14th century still arches to this day.

The house itself belongs to the city’s oldest built fabric. Behind a façade from the first half of the 19th century hides a Renaissance core from the 16th century — the ground floor keeps its lunette barrel vaults and traces of the original mázhaus, the entrance hall of a merchant’s house.

In 2016 the house opened as a four-star hotel: spacious rooms from 32 to 62 m², air conditioning in every room, two lifts, private parking, a bike room and a breakfast worth waking up for. We let the history breathe — and added the comfort you expect from a hotel today. The Kramer Apartments have welcomed guests since 2008 and completed their most recent full renovation in 2026.
